Description

Protect your guitar strings from corrosion - and make your guitar unmistakably yours.

String ProTech® combines a moisture-wicking lining, hard shell and airtight seal to reduce exposure to sweat, humidity and air between playing sessions. Independent lab testing recorded zero degradation over five weeks, helping your strings stay fresh, bright and ready to play.

Customise the outer shell with your chosen vinyl sticker design. Fits most standard 6-string electric guitars and slides on or off in seconds.

Patent pending — Application No. PCT/BR2024/050125.

How it Works

After playing, simply slide String ProTech® over your guitar strings.

Its soft, moisture-wicking lining absorbs residual sweat and humidity, while the hard outer shell shields the strings from air and moisture, helping prevent corrosion and preserve their tone, feel and lifespan. When you’re ready to play again, it slides off in seconds.

Protect Your Tone. Extend the Life of Your Strings.

String ProTech® is a patent-pending guitar string protection system designed to sit over your strings between playing sessions.

Its three-layer construction combines a soft, moisture-wicking lining, a durable hard shell and a custom vinyl sticker—bringing protection and personal expression together in one easy-to-use design.

  • Slide It Into Place

When you’ve finished your session, place String ProTech® over your guitar strings. It fits in seconds with no tools required. The moisture-wicking lining absorbs residual sweat and humidity.

  • Seal Out Air and Moisture

The hard shell creates an airtight seal, reducing exposure to the conditions that can cause tarnish and corrosion.

  • Remove and Play

When you’re ready to play again, simply slide it off and enjoy strings that feel fresh and ready to perform.

Independent laboratory testing by CTL (Ref. #42500) recorded zero degradation over five weeks under the tested conditions.

Keep Your Strings Fresher for Longer

Sweat, humidity and air exposure can gradually corrode guitar strings, affecting how they feel and sound. String ProTech® helps protect against these everyday conditions, preserving your strings’ tone, brightness and feel between sessions.

  • Proven to prevent corrosion in independent lab testing
  • Zero degradation recorded over five weeks
  • Moisture-wicking lining absorbs residual sweat and humidity
  • Airtight seal reduces exposure to air and moisture
  • Helps preserve string condition, tone and feel

Protect Your Sound. Express Your Style.

String ProTech® doesn’t just protect your strings, it gives you another way to express your style.

Choose a vinyl sticker design to customise the outer shell and transform a practical guitar accessory into something personal. Change the design when you want a new look, without changing the protection underneath.

String ProTech® fits most standard 6-string electric guitars with a 25.5” (648mm) scale length and a bridge or saddle width of approximately 55–57mm. It may also fit some compatible steel-string acoustic guitars.

I bought the Ozzy design. The print looks great in person, high quality vinyl. I can’t say I’ve had it long enough to prove how much it extends string life, but it definitely makes sense for keeping sweat, dust, and humidity off the strings, especially if you leave your guitar out of the case.
It’s a simple idea, but useful. The Ozzy sticker is what made me buy it, but the protection is a plus.

Got one for my Fender Telecaster and it was a perfect fit. It completely seels the strings from the air/humidity. Loved the idea and the custom stickers option. Also the fast shipping is a plus.

Frequently Asked questions

FAQ

What is String ProTech®?

String ProTech® is a patent-pending protective case system that shields your guitar strings from humidity, sweat residue, and airborne contaminants — the main causes of corrosion. Its multi-layer design (custom vinyl sticker, hard case base, and protective fabric layer) seals your strings from outside air between sessions. In independent testing by Corrosion Testing Laboratories, strings protected by String ProTech® showed zero degradation after 5 weeks of accelerated corrosion exposure, while unprotected strings fractured. And because String ProTech® works from the outside, your strings stay exactly as the manufacturer made them — full brightness, natural feel, no coating dampening your tone.

How does the case prevent rusting?

Our case is engineered to block humidity and environmental moisture — the main causes of string corrosion. It uses a combination of airtight sealing and moisture-absorbing inserts to protect your strings between sessions.

Will it protect my strings while travelling?

Yes. String ProTech® was designed with travel in mind. The hard case base shields your strings and fretboard from impact and pressure inside your gig bag or flight case, while the sealed design keeps out the humidity swings your guitar faces in transit — cargo holds, hot cars, humid venues. It's protection against both physical damage and the corrosive conditions that travel exposes your strings to.

Do I still need String ProTech® if I use coated strings?

Yes — and here's why, straight from a corrosion specialist. We asked Charles Demarest, Director of Corrosion Testing at Corrosion Testing Laboratories:

"The coatings on guitar strings are very thin, usually a few micrometers thick. Eventually they will wear off. However, your ProTech device will cause the coating to last longer than it would without your device."

In other words: coated strings + String ProTech® = double protection. The coating protects the string; String ProTech® protects the coating. Your strings — coated or not — simply last longer. And if you're among the many players who find coated strings a bit dull-sounding, String ProTech® lets you play uncoated strings with their full brightness while still getting serious corrosion protection.

Why do guitar strings rust so fast?

The higher the relative humidity of the air, the faster strings corrode. Wound (roundwound) strings make it worse: the gaps between the winds trap dirt, grease, and dead skin — a primary reason strings go dull as they age. But the biggest variables are the player's sweat acidity and the humidity of the air around the instrument. That's why two players can get very different string life from the same set.

How can I extend the life of my strings and slow down corrosion?

Your strings face two enemies: the sweat and oils your hands leave on them while you play, and the humid air they sit exposed to between sessions. Wiping your strings down with a lint-free microfiber cloth (or a string cleaner) after every session helps with the first — but it doesn't solve the second: even freshly cleaned strings are left exposed to the air, and humidity immediately goes back to work on the metal. String ProTech® is the only solution that tackles both: its moisture-wicking fabric layer dries the sweat and oils left on your strings, while the case seals them away from humid air between sessions.

Is it okay to play the guitar with rusty strings?

It's not recommended to play guitar with rusty strings because they can damage your instrument and hurt your fingers. Rusty strings can:

  • Sound bad: rusty strings can sound dull and inconsistent
  • Break easily: rusty strings are more likely to break when played
  • Harm your instrument: rusty strings can scratch or groove your frets, wear down the wood on the fretboard, and hurt your fingers

Instead of playing with rusty strings, use String ProTech® — it will keep corrosion away!

My strings are already rusty — what should I do?

Replace them. Rusty strings can't be reliably restored, and playing them risks your frets and fingers. Put on a fresh set — and this time, keep them fresh with String ProTech®.

Which guitar models are compatible with String ProTech®?

String ProTech® is compatible with most electric and acoustic guitars with a nut width of up to 42.3 mm, including popular models such as the Fender Stratocaster, Fender Telecaster, Gibson Les Paul, and many others. We recommend measuring your guitar's nut width before purchasing to ensure a proper fit.
